Start With the Tutorial and Quota
GONE Fishing achievements can turn a routine fishing trip into a hunt for enormous catches, hidden memorials, and a run that lasts weeks. Planning your unlocks helps you protect that progress while working toward the tougher survival milestones. With 53 GONE Fishing achievements to pursue, start with the everyday objectives before chasing the rare fish added to the 1.0 achievement lineup.
Complete the tutorial, learn the altar, and separate the fish you need for quota from those you can afford to sell or gamble. That routine supports nearly every longer objective.
| Achievement | How to unlock | Rarity % |
|---|---|---|
| So you think you can fish... | Complete the tutorial from the main menu | 18.8% |
| You met Quota | Fill the altar quota until its flame turns blue, then sleep | 91.6% |
| Mans best friend | Leave the large bone in the quota altar overnight to summon the dog | 27.8% |
| You addict | Gamble a fish in a gambling pool | 69.7% |
The percentages throughout this guide are global unlock rates. They describe how many players have earned an achievement, rather than its chance of triggering.
For the dog, look for the large bone behind the house on Lake or Swamp. Place it in the altar and advance to the next morning. Once the dog arrives, its fish mode lets you hand over a fish for delivery to the altar; lantern mode lets it carry a light.
Keep gambling separate from your quota supply. A gambling pool can shrink a fish as well as enlarge it, so use a spare catch for the introductory gambling achievement. Save larger experiments for after the altar is covered.

Survival Achievements: Build Toward Day 35
The survival branch of GONE Fishing achievements rewards reaching increasingly distant days. Several unlocks fit into the same extended run, making consistent quota management more useful than rushing through the opening days.

| Achievement | How to unlock | Rarity % |
|---|---|---|
| You Survived | Reach day 7 | 70.9% |
| You've done something right... | Reach day 14 | 34.5% |
| Wow you've got these fish by the fin | Reach day 21 | 12.8% |
| Fish worship you | Reach day 28 | 5.8% |
| Are you exploiting? | Reach day 35 | 3.6% |
| Fish fear you, i fear you.. | Reach day 35 on Jeremy Wade difficulty | 0.7% |
Treat each day as a resource decision: how much fish must go into the altar, how much can fund upgrades, and how much can survive until tomorrow?
Cook fish to increase their value before sacrificing or selling them. Use the cooked indicator in your inventory to check their status instead of relying on an old cooking timer. The stove and fishing systems have changed across versions.
For longer runs, preserve surplus catches. Smokers reduce rot according to how thoroughly a fish is smoked, while clams turn deposited fish into pearls overnight. Pearls preserve their value without ordinary fish rot.
Version 1.0 also gives you passive production:
- Collect bait traps at the start of each morning.
- Put tacklebox bait into fish traps to collect fish overnight.
- Buy Jeb’s fish trap upgrade to collect up to three fish per bait.
- Pair bait production with fish traps to support future quotas.
On Jeremy Wade difficulty, hardcore is enabled and a game over deletes the save. Hearts can provide protection when sacrificed to the altar, and they can revive a dead teammate during multiplayer. Keep them available before extending a valuable run into dangerous territory.
Fish Weight Achievements: Work Up to 10,000 Pounds
The weight-based GONE Fishing achievements give you clear targets, from an ordinary catch to something that barely sounds like a fish anymore.

| Achievement | How to unlock | Rarity % |
|---|---|---|
| I mean it's a fish... | Catch a 1-pound fish | 94.3% |
| You might know what you're doing | Catch a 5-pound fish | 86.9% |
| Fish fear you | Catch a 50-pound fish | 71.3% |
| what the fish | Catch a 100-pound fish | 61.8% |
| Fish get that big??? | Catch a 1,000-pound fish | 34.2% |
| IS THAT A CAR OR A FISH??? | Catch a 2,000-pound fish | 25.4% |
| uhhhhhhhh too big put it back in the water | Catch a 3,000-pound fish | 18.4% |
| WHAT THE FISH | Catch a 10,000-pound fish | 3.5% |
There is also a 10-pound catch achievement, with an 82.3% global unlock rate.
Build your fishing setup around the factors that influence catches: bait, depth, weather, day count, and size bonuses. Carry a depth finder when searching for deeper fishing spots. Equip stronger bait for those attempts rather than spending it on casual casts beside the cabin.
For size bonuses, Fish whisper increases fish size by 5%, and the Leviathan totem increases size further. Upgrade the totem through Jeb as your economy allows.
Use the 1.0 Trinket System
Version 1.0 introduces eight trinkets as its new progression system. Purchases and upgrades are shared with your friends, so coordinate spending in multiplayer.
For repeated fishing attempts, combine Hungry hook, Captain's Stopwatch, and Deadman's Hand. Their effects can provide an immediate bite, a perfect opening strike, and an instant reel-in when all three activate together.
For legendary and mythic targets, Siren's Conch increases the odds of those fish tiers. Iron worm gives you a chance to retain bait after a catch, helping stretch valuable supplies.
Keep fishing for your weight goals rather than depending on gambling to satisfy a catch requirement. Use gambling for its own achievements and surplus fish.
Hidden Achievements, Pets, and Creature Encounters
Several GONE Fishing achievements take you away from the daily fishing routine. Schedule dangerous encounters separately from a survival run you want to preserve.
Image: Steam / GONE Studios
| Achievement | How to unlock | Rarity % |
|---|---|---|
| Oh right you can't swim | Drown | 76.5% |
| Hello alligator | Aggro an alligator; Swamp provides an opportunity | 84.8% |
| Hug it out | Die to a snake; look on Jungle | 33.2% |
| Happy birthday Curtis | Approach the memorial gravestone | 22.4% |
| You caught a pufferfish | Catch a pufferfish | 45.4% |
| This fish has legs | Catch a goblinshark with legs | 57.4% |
Drowning and snake encounters deliberately put your character at risk. Handle them before committing to a hardcore survival attempt, or use a separate run for those objectives.
Finding Happy birthday Curtis
On Swamp, search behind the cabin associated with a boulder-blocked route. The memorial includes a photograph with “happy birthday cutie” written above it.
Use these landmarks to orient yourself:
- Leave the starting cabin and look beyond the quota totem.
- Find the light gray rocks that appear stacked together.
- Locate the route toward the cabin behind the boulder.
- Search behind that cabin for the gravestone and approach it.
Use a difficulty other than Peaceful for this unlock. Check your Steam achievement list afterward even if an on-screen notification never appears.
Killed Friend and Killed Troll
Version 1.0 fixes bugs affecting the “Killed Friend” and “Killed Troll” achievements. Their snapshot unlock rates are 6.7% and 1.0%, respectively.
The musket kills most creatures in one shot, including other players, but it becomes unusable after firing once. Arrange any multiplayer attempt with your teammate beforehand, and keep it away from a run where a death would cost valuable progress.
Legendary Catches and the 1.0 Boss
The rare-fish branch of GONE Fishing achievements now comes with wearable rewards. In version 1.0, catching a legendary or mythical fish unlocks an achievement and its corresponding hat.
| Achievement target | How to unlock | Rarity % |
|---|---|---|
| Nessie | Catch Nessie | 1.3% |
| Rhizo | Catch Rhizo in deep water on Lake; the MOBY rod is required | 0.0% |
| Colossal Squid | Catch the Colossal Squid in Arctic waters | 0.0% |
| Giant Squid | Catch the Giant Squid in the ocean on Jungle | 0.0% |
| Boss defeat | Defeat the boss introduced with the 1.0 ending | 0.0% |
The 0.0% entries reflect the recorded global percentage at that snapshot. They are not catch probabilities.
Unlock MOBY Before Hunting Rhizo
Version 1.0 makes defeating the boss the route to unlocking MOBY. Visit Jeb and inspect his new bait to begin pursuing the Lake Entity’s full form and the game’s ending.
Follow that progression before dedicating supplies to Rhizo. This mythical fish lives in deep Lake water, and acquiring MOBY is required to catch it.
The Colossal Squid is exclusive to Arctic, with The Moby recommended. The Giant Squid is exclusive to Jungle’s ocean. Keep their destinations separate when planning your rare-fish sessions.
Older upgrade instructions use numbered line and rod levels. Build around the 1.0 progression system when preparing a new save, particularly its shared trinkets and their combinations.
Your 100% Completion Order
Organize GONE Fishing achievements into runs with clear purposes. Keep routine progression together, then move deliberate deaths and difficult encounters into sessions where they will not interrupt a long survival attempt.
- Complete the tutorial and opening quota. Learn the fishing loop and start collecting the smaller weight milestones.
- Summon the dog and gamble a spare fish. Fit these around ordinary quota work.
- Build an economy for survival. Add traps, cooking, preservation, totems, and shared trinkets.
- Extend a run through day 35. Collect the listed survival milestones along the way.
- Clear exploration and encounter objectives. Visit the memorial and handle drowning, alligator, snake, and multiplayer objectives separately.
- Complete the 1.0 ending. Defeat the boss and unlock MOBY.
- Pursue rare fish and the 10,000-pound catch. Travel to the relevant maps and equip the appropriate fishing setup.
- Finish the difficulty challenge and remaining Steam entries. Schedule day 35 on Jeremy Wade around your established quota routine.
Keep Steam’s achievement panel beside your personal checklist. Its remaining entries include perk achievements, additional creature encounters, a day-60 entry, and further named fish targets. Revisit that checklist after each milestone so a long fishing session stays focused on something you still need.
